SPENCER PETERMAN 18" SPALTED MAPLE ROUND BOWL
$425.00
DETAILS

Made in the United States.

The maple tree is beloved throughout New England for it’s wood, syrup and vibrant fall foliage.  Maple wood is characterized by a smooth grain and unique light color.  Spencer Peterman upcycles fallen maple trees that are in the early stages of decomposition to get remarkable spalted lines running throughout the wood. Each bowl is a unique masterpiece of nature.  This wide, deep round bowl can be used as a serviing or decor piece.  Bowl is hand-turned, sanded smooth, and finished in Peterman's Massachusetts studio. Every bowl created by Peterman is unique as each is hand made.  100% food safe.

Known for its hand-turned bowls, serving boards and kitchenware, Spencer Peterman celebrates the natural character of decomposing wood while championing local sourcing and eco-conscious design. Each Spencer Peterman piece begins with locally fallen logs—trees that would otherwise be chipped, burned, or discarded.

CARE:

Use a food-safe, penetrating oil.  Work the oil into the surface, let sit and then wipe clean.  Wood oil works best when used regularly, before the surface shows signs of age. A few minutes of attention keeps each wooden piece lasting for years, carrying its marks of use but staying strong.
