Pot feet are essential for proper drainage in any pot placed outdoors, allowing excess water to escape through the hole at the base. Elevating the pot also helps protect plant roots from insects. Our pot feet are thoughtfully designed to complement all our large outdoor pot collections.
Bergs Potter, a Danish company established in 1942, creates handcrafted terracotta plant pots in Tuscany, Italy, using premium Italian clay and high-temperature firing to ensure durability and optimal plant health through natural porosity and aeration.
CARE
- Ensure proper drainage: Do not let the drainage hole at the bottom of the pot become clogged. If water accumulates and freezes, the expansion can cause the pot to crack.
- Elevate your pot: Use pot feet, small rocks, or wooden blocks to raise the pot at least 2 cm off the ground. This allows excess water to drain away before it freezes.
- Remove saucers: Take off the saucer during the winter months so that water doesn't pool and freeze underneath the pot.
- Insulate larger pots: In areas with extreme cold, consider adding an insulating layer of bubble wrap, fleece, or burlap around larger pots for extra protection.
